Divorce and other family law issues impact every family member in a unique and personal way. It can be one of the most difficult times in a person’s life. We help you explore your options, discuss your concerns and find out which method is the right path for your family and for you. We will discuss your expectations and goals, as well as your rights and obligations. Our objective is to let you leave the first meeting empowered with the knowledge to know which path to take to get to a successful new phase of your life.
In some cases mediation or collaboration simply won’t work. Either one spouse will not fully disclose his or her finances, play fairly or have the children’s best interests at heart. In other cases a spouse may be looking to use court as a means for revenge or a way to hopefully conceal assets and/or avoid his or her legal obligations. In these cases, litigation is the only option.
Most family law cases in Illinois are litigated. That doesn’t mean, however, that you need to spend thousands of dollars litigating over who gets to keep the refrigerator or a vacuum cleaner. After working on family law cases for almost 20 years I’ve come up with alternative ways to handle cases. In many instances, I can work with your spouse’s or the other parent’s attorney to try and reach a fair settlement. If that doesn’t work, we set the issue for hearing and move the case towards final resolution.
Our clients come to us because they know we have an honest and straight-forward approach. We have the experience, training, and ability to resolve their most challenging family law issues. Larimer Law is patient and persistent in our negotiations and balance our skills and resources to help you avoid litigation if at all possible and to prevail in court when necessary.
